Utah DOT Crash Data

Farmington's Most Dangerous Roads

Park Lane (SR-225) has the most crashes of any Farmington street, 455 of the 2,263 UDOT recorded on the city's streets from January 2018 through August 4, 2025, but only 4 were serious or fatal. The city's deadliest stretch was Legacy Parkway, with 3 fatal crashes. And 1,866 more crashes, 43.9% of everything recorded in Farmington, happened on I-15 and its ramps.

These figures come from UDOT's records of every crash plotted inside Farmington from January 1, 2018 to August 4, 2025, the end of the public series. Each crash was placed on the street it occurred on, using the road the officer named where possible. Interstate and ramp crashes are counted separately. Legacy Parkway, a limited-access road, is included in the street totals but not ranked with ordinary streets, and crashes on private property or without a usable location are left out. A serious or fatal crash is one with a reported death or suspected serious injury.

Of the 4,251 crashes in the city, 1,866 were on I-15 and its ramps, 76 on private property and 46 without a matching street, leaving 2,263 street crashes. 41 of those were serious or fatal, 1.8%, below the 2.6% for street crashes across the seven counties in this data (Salt Lake, Utah, Davis, Weber, Summit, Cache and Washington), and 8 people died. 3 of those deaths were on the ranked streets; the other 5 came in Legacy Parkway's 3 fatal crashes.

Snow, Ice and Wildlife

Farmington's street crashes are shaped by conditions more than most. A snowy, icy or slushy road surface was recorded in 183 of them, 8.1%, against 5.9% across the seven counties; only three of the 57 cities in this data have a higher share. A wild animal was involved in 122 crashes, 5.4%, also the fourth-highest share of the 57 and more than twice the regional 2.1%.

Crashes where a vehicle left the road made up 15.8% of the total and 16 of the 41 serious or fatal crashes (39.0%, against 22.5% regionally). Serious crashes have not followed the regional rise: Farmington had 10 in 2018 and between 1 and 6 a year from 2020 through 2024, while the seven counties went from 844 to 1,045.

Ten Farmington Streets by Reported Crashes

Streets are listed by the number of crashes recorded on them inside city limits. Station Parkway and Shepard Lane tie on crashes and are ordered by serious crashes. A crash where two listed streets meet counts once, on the street the report names, and the cross streets given are the busiest junctions on each street.

  • Park Lane (SR-225) — 455 crashes, 4 serious or fatal, 1 death. The Station Parkway junction had 106 crashes, none of them serious, and a disregarded signal or sign was flagged in 15.8% of Park Lane's crashes, the highest share on this list.
  • Main Street (SR-106) — 226 crashes, 2 serious or fatal, no deaths. Its crashes are spread out; the busiest junction, Highway 89, had 21. Yearly crashes fell from 37 in 2018 to 18 in 2024.
  • Highway 89 (US-89) — 190 crashes, 2 serious or fatal. 48.9% fall in UDOT's single-vehicle or not-applicable group, speed was flagged in 33.7%, and UDOT estimates reach about 38,000 vehicles a day. Crashes on its interchange ramps are counted with the freeways.
  • Station Parkway — 131 crashes, 1 serious or fatal. Most cluster at Central Avenue (37), Union Avenue (30) and Park Lane (19), and only 3 happened between 6 and 9 a.m.
  • Shepard Lane (1225 North) — 131 crashes and none serious or fatal. Its Highway 89 junction accounts for 50, and angle collisions are 48.1% of the total.
  • State Street — 123 crashes, 2 serious or fatal, both involving a motorcycle. Phoenix Way West (34) and Main Street (25) are its busiest junctions.
  • Lagoon Drive — 79 crashes, 4 serious or fatal, a rate of 5.1%. 33 of its crashes were at Highway 89, and 2 of the serious ones were head-on.
  • 200 East (SR-106) — 77 crashes, 3 serious or fatal, 1 death. Single-vehicle or not-applicable crashes lead at 35.1%, and a vehicle left the road in 20.8% of them.
  • 200 West (SR-227) — 69 crashes, 3 serious or fatal. 29 of them, including 2 serious, were at Frontage Road, and angle collisions are 53.6% of the total.
  • Clark Lane (100 North) — 54 crashes, 1 serious or fatal, 1 death. 1100 West (11) and Union Avenue (10) are its busiest junctions.

The ten streets account for 1,535 of Farmington's 2,263 street crashes (67.8%), 22 of the 41 serious or fatal crashes and 3 of the 8 deaths. Park Lane alone holds 20.1% of the street total, about twice the count on Main Street.

Small Counts, Uneven Severity

Sorted by serious or fatal crashes, Park Lane and Lagoon Drive tie with 4 each, though Lagoon Drive had about a sixth as many crashes. 200 East, 200 West and West Davis (SR-177) follow with 3 each; West Davis is off the list with only 38 crashes inside the city, 78.9% of them single-vehicle or not-applicable. Shepard Lane, fifth by volume, had no serious crashes at all.

Young Drivers, Distraction and Cyclists

A teen driver appears in 33.8% of Farmington's street crashes, against 23.8% across the seven counties, though only 5 of the serious ones. Distraction was flagged in 13.0%, the fifth-highest share among the 57 cities. Hit and run was less common, 4.5%, and none of those crashes was serious. Cyclists were in only 20 crashes, yet 5 of them were serious or fatal, 12.2% of the city's serious crashes; only two of the 57 cities have a higher share.

Rear-end (28.7%) and angle crashes (28.4%) are about even, but 22 of the serious crashes fall in the group UDOT reports as single-vehicle or not applicable, which includes leaving the road and hitting a pedestrian, cyclist or fixed object. Over the complete years 2018 to 2024, December had the most street crashes (211) and April the fewest (127); Sunday was the quietest day, with 172.

I-15, Legacy Parkway and the US-89 Ramps

I-15 recorded 1,535 crashes inside Farmington, 12 serious or fatal, with 3 deaths. The US-89 interchange ramps added 245 crashes, 3 serious, and the Legacy Parkway (SR-67) ramps 57. Freeway and ramp crashes were 43.9% of the city's total, against 21.4% across the seven counties; only four of the 57 cities have a higher share. Legacy Parkway's own 74 crashes, 6 of them serious or fatal, sit in the street totals. Unreported crashes, minor property-damage crashes below Utah's reporting threshold and anything after August 4, 2025 are not counted.

Claims and Deadlines After a Farmington Crash

Utah's no-fault system means your own personal injury protection pays first, at least $3,000 of medical bills regardless of fault (Utah Code § 31A-22-307). You can seek pain and other general damages from the driver responsible once the injury passes the § 31A-22-309 threshold, for example a fracture, permanent impairment or medical expenses above $3,000; the threshold does not apply to an uninsured motorist claim. An unidentified hit-and-run vehicle is treated as uninsured (§ 31A-22-305(2)(b)). Any share of fault you carry reduces your award, and you recover only if the others' fault is greater (§ 78B-5-818). Most injury suits must be filed within four years (§ 78B-2-307), but a claim against a city or UDOT that a road was unsafe requires a written notice of claim within one year (§ 63G-7-402). Recoverable Damages After a Farmington Collision

  • Bills and wages: emergency care, doctor and therapy visits, prescriptions, paychecks missed while healing, and repair or replacement of your car.
  • Pain and its effects: the physical pain of the injury and the work, family time and activities it takes away.
  • The road ahead: future treatment, a reduced ability to earn, and help at home if the injury lingers.

How the Farmington Data Was Assembled

Records: UDOT's public Crash_Locations data, every crash type, January 1, 2018 through August 4, 2025. Limits: UGRC's current municipal boundary for Farmington, applied to every year. Street matching: the nearest UGRC Utah Roads segment within 35 meters, with the officer's named road preferred; statewide this agrees with the reported road roughly nine times in ten. Serious or fatal: a reported death or suspected serious injury. Officer flags describe what was noted at the scene, not fault. Comparisons are to street crashes in the seven counties in this data. Every city we have ranked this way is listed on our statewide page, Utah’s most dangerous roads.
