Utah DOT Crash Data
West Haven's Most Dangerous Roads
All 6 of West Haven's street deaths from January 1, 2018 through August 4, 2025 happened on three state routes: 1900 West, Midland Drive and 2100 South. 1900 West alone had 411 of the 1,454 street crashes UDOT recorded in the city and 22 of the 51 that were serious or fatal.
This ranking uses every crash in UDOT's public records that falls inside West Haven's city limits between January 1, 2018 and August 4, 2025, where the file ends. Crashes were placed on the street where they were plotted, with the officer's named road deciding close cases. I-15 and ramp crashes are tallied separately, private-property crashes are left out of street totals, and a serious or fatal crash is one where the report lists a death or a suspected serious injury.
West Haven had 1,880 crashes in that time. 386 were on I-15 or a ramp, 20.5% of the total, close to the 21.4% across the seven counties in this data. 32 were on private property and 8 could not be matched to a street. Of the 1,454 street crashes, 51 were serious or fatal, 3.5%; only five of the 57 cities measured have a higher share. Some injury, including possible injury, was reported in 31.2%.
Six Deaths on Three State Routes
1900 West (SR-126) recorded 411 crashes, 28.3% of the street total, along with 22 serious or fatal crashes and 3 deaths. Its junctions with 2100 South (84, 4 of them serious or fatal) and 2550 South (78) were the busiest. A teen driver was involved in 7 of its serious crashes.
Midland Drive (SR-108) had 217 crashes, 6 serious or fatal and 2 deaths; a vehicle left the road in 40 of them. 2100 South (SR-104) had 157 crashes, 6 serious or fatal and 1 death, and a commercial vehicle was involved in 30. The state road map also labels 21st Street as SR-104; under both names the route carries 250 crashes and 10 serious or fatal ones.
West Haven Roads in Order
Roads are listed by the crashes recorded on them inside city limits, and only the seven with at least 50 crashes are included. A crash at a junction of two listed roads counts once, on the road the report names. The cross streets given are each road's busiest junctions.
- 1900 West (SR-126) — 411 crashes, 22 serious or fatal, 3 deaths. Side impacts lead at 41.4%. 2100 South, 2550 South and Midland Drive (24) are its busiest junctions; UDOT estimates reach about 25,000 vehicles a day.
- Midland Drive (SR-108) — 217 crashes, 6 serious or fatal, 2 deaths. Rear-end crashes lead at 36.9%. Hinckley Drive (38), 3300 South (32) and 1900 West (23) are its busiest junctions.
- 2100 South (SR-104) — 157 crashes, 6 serious or fatal, 1 death. Commercial vehicles were in 19.1% of its crashes. 1900 West (25) and 1100 West (19) lead its junctions.
- 21st Street (SR-104) — 93 crashes, 4 serious or fatal. 65 of them, 3 serious, happened where it meets 1100 West. Pedestrians were struck in 4.
- 4000 South (SR-37) — 89 crashes, 5 serious or fatal. 58.4% were side impacts, the highest share of the seven, and a teen driver was involved in 39. 3500 West (19) and 4700 West (18) are its busiest junctions.
- 2550 South — 56 crashes, none serious or fatal. Its 1900 West junction accounts for 21.

The seven roads hold 1,077 of the 1,454 street crashes (74.1%), 46 of the 51 serious or fatal ones and all 6 deaths. Five of the seven are state routes.
Serious Crashes Jumped in 2023 and 2024
West Haven recorded 12 serious or fatal street crashes in 2023 and 13 in 2024, after 3 to 6 a year from 2018 through 2022. 1900 West accounts for much of the change: 7 in 2023 and 8 in 2024, against no more than 2 in any earlier year. Total street crashes rose less sharply, from 176 in 2018 to 202 in 2024. The counts are small, and the records cannot say how much reflects the roads and how much reflects reporting.
Side Impacts, Trucks and Night Driving
Side-impact crashes were 25 of the 51 serious or fatal street crashes, 49.0%, a share only five of the 57 cities exceed; head-on crashes were another 8, 15.7%, against 6.9% across the seven counties. Commercial vehicles were involved in 156 street crashes, 10.7%, the fourth-highest share among the 57.
362 street crashes, 24.9%, happened in the dark, compared with 23.7% regionally. Pedestrians were involved in 7 of the serious crashes and cyclists in 4. In the complete years 2018 through 2024, October had the most crashes (137), and the 3 to 7 p.m. window was the busiest of the day (484).
Freeway Crashes Beside the Street Count
I-15 recorded 383 crashes inside West Haven, 14 serious or fatal, with 5 deaths, nearly as many deaths as all of the city's streets combined. Those crashes are reported here and kept out of the street ranking. Unreported crashes, minor property-damage crashes below Utah's reporting threshold and anything after August 4, 2025 are not included.
Your Claim and Utah's Deadlines
After a crash, your own personal injury protection pays at least $3,000 of medical expenses regardless of fault (Utah Code § 31A-22-307). General damages such as pain can be claimed from the driver responsible once the injury passes the § 31A-22-309 threshold, which includes a fracture, permanent impairment or medical expenses over $3,000; uninsured motorist claims are not held to that threshold. A hit-and-run driver who is never identified is treated as uninsured (§ 31A-22-305(2)(b)). Your share of fault reduces the recovery, and you recover only if the other parties' fault is greater (§ 78B-5-818). Most injury suits must be filed within four years (§ 78B-2-307), but a claim that a city or UDOT road was unsafe requires a written notice of claim within one year (§ 63G-7-402). For Weber County crashes, our Ogden car accident page explains the claim process, and Ogden’s most dangerous roads covers the neighboring city. See also our guides to truck accident claims, pedestrian claims, proving fault, PIP claims and filing deadlines.
Recoverable Harm
- Money lost: hospital and clinic bills, rehabilitation, medicine, missed pay and repair or replacement of your vehicle.
- Pain and its effects: physical pain, lost sleep and the work and family activities an injury interrupts.
- Future costs: care still needed, lower earning ability and household help after an injury that lasts.
Building the West Haven Totals
Records: UDOT's public Crash_Locations file, all crash types, January 1, 2018 to August 4, 2025. Boundary: UGRC's current West Haven city limits, used for every year. Street matching: the nearest UGRC Utah Roads segment within 35 meters, with the road named in the report preferred; statewide this agrees with the reported road about nine times in ten. Serious or fatal: a reported death or suspected serious injury. Flags record what officers noted, not fault. Regional numbers cover street crashes in the seven counties in this data. Every city we have ranked this way is listed on our statewide page, Utah’s most dangerous roads.

Questions on West Haven Traffic Crashes
Which road leads West Haven's crash count?
1900 West (SR-126), with 411 crashes inside city limits from January 2018 through August 4, 2025, nearly twice the 217 on Midland Drive, the next road down.
Were the deaths concentrated on certain roads?
Yes. All 6 street deaths were on three state routes: 3 on 1900 West, 2 on Midland Drive and 1 on 2100 South.
What explains the truck share?
The records show that a commercial vehicle was involved in 10.7% of West Haven's street crashes, not why. On 2100 South the share was 19.1%.
Is the 2023 rise in serious crashes real?
The increase is in the records: 12 serious or fatal street crashes in 2023 and 13 in 2024, against 6 or fewer in each earlier year. With numbers this small, a handful of crashes or a change in how severity is coded can move the total.
How many deaths were on I-15?
5, from 383 I-15 crashes inside the city. Those are counted separately from the 6 street deaths.
