Lindon Roads Behind Most Crash Claims

Lindon is a narrow city pressed between Orem and Pleasant Grove, with Mount Timpanogos rising to the northeast and industrial land spreading west toward Utah Lake. Hardly anyone crosses it without also driving through a neighbor, and several of its busiest roads double as city lines, so a Lindon collision can land on a street that changes jurisdiction mid-block. For claims that are not vehicle crashes, our Orem personal injury page covers the larger city next door. Every Lindon street is ranked by its crash record on our Lindon’s most dangerous roads page.

State Street (US-89)

US-89 is the commercial spine of Lindon, lined with business entrances and side streets. Drivers slow to turn in while through traffic holds near highway speed, so rear-end impacts and left-turn collisions with oncoming cars dominate. Utah Code § 41-6a-903 puts the burden on the driver turning left to yield to oncoming vehicles near enough to be an immediate hazard.

700 North (SR-129)

SR-129 begins at State Street, where Lindon's 700 North meets Pleasant Grove's 1000 South, then runs west through an industrial district and across Geneva Road before curving north to become North County Boulevard. Box trucks, delivery vans and workers changing shifts share it with commuters.

Geneva Road (SR-114)

The old lakeside highway passes through west Lindon on its loop from Provo to Pleasant Grove. Long gaps between signals invite speed, and drivers pulling out of yards and side streets misjudge how quickly traffic is closing. Broadside crashes at unsignalized access points are the typical file.

1600 North on the Orem line (SR-241)

This short state route follows the boundary with Orem, where the Lindon grid calls it 600 South, and it has a diamond interchange with I-15 just east of Geneva Road. With freeway ramps so close to that intersection, queued vehicles, late lane changes toward the on-ramp and red-light disputes keep recurring.

I-15 through Lindon

The interstate carries Salt Lake and Provo commuters and freight along the west side of town. Sudden slowdowns near the interchanges set off chain collisions, and a semitruck brings federal carrier rules and a second insurer into the picture; see our Utah truck crash guide.

Which agency writes the Lindon report

Lindon runs its own police department, based at the Lindon City Center on North State Street, which handles collisions on city streets. The Utah Highway Patrol usually takes crashes on I-15. Because 700 North and 1600 North sit on city lines, confirm which department actually wrote the report. Traffic citations go to justice court, which does not hear injury lawsuits.

Personal Injury Protection Comes Before Fault

Every Utah auto policy carries PIP, and Utah Code § 31A-22-307 has it pay no matter who caused the collision: at least $3,000 in reasonable medical expenses, and lost gross income at 85% or $250 a week, whichever is lower, for up to 52 consecutive weeks. The details are in our no-fault explainer.

A trip to the emergency room at Timpanogos Regional Hospital in Orem plus one follow-up scan can use that up. Under Utah Code § 31A-22-309(1), a person covered by PIP can pursue the at-fault driver for pain, suffering and other general damages only after one of these:

  • Medical expenses above $3,000
  • A broken bone
  • Permanent impairment or disability shown by objective findings
  • Disfigurement that will not go away
  • Dismemberment
  • A fatal injury

Once over that line, the careless driver's liability carrier is answerable for the whole claim. If those limits run short, your own underinsured motorist coverage may fill the gap.

How Fault Gets Split in Lindon Cases

Utah Code § 78B-5-818 lets the fact finder assign percentages. Your award shrinks by your share, and you take nothing from defendants whose combined fault does not exceed yours.

Adjusters handling Lindon crashes ask predictable questions: did you pull out of a State Street entrance into a gap that was too small, were you watching the right signal near the 1600 North ramps, did a truck leaving a Geneva Road yard have a clear view. Business and warehouse cameras often caught the answer, but footage is routinely recorded over, so ask for it right away.

Filing deadlines

Four years is the usual window to sue for crash injuries, and two for a wrongful death claim. A claim against Lindon City, Utah County, UDOT or UTA needs a written notice of claim within one year under Utah Code § 63G-7-402. See the Utah deadlines guide.

Lindon Collision Claims We Handle

Business-entrance and left-turn crashes

On State Street, where cars leave parking lots into moving traffic and turning drivers cut across several lanes at once.

Industrial-area and truck crashes

Along 700 North and Geneva Road, where commercial vehicles swing wide and back into loading areas. Carriers keep driver logs and telematics that should be requested before they are purged.

Interchange collisions

At the 1600 North interchange and on I-15, from merge sideswipes to multi-car pileups in stop-and-go traffic. The event data recorder in each vehicle can show speed and braking in the last seconds.

People on foot or on bikes

Crossing State Street or riding the edge of Geneva Road. Utah Code § 41-6a-1002 requires drivers to slow or stop for a pedestrian in a crosswalk on their half of the road; our pedestrian claims guide explains the rest.

Uninsured and hit-and-run drivers

Your uninsured motorist coverage can pay when the at-fault driver has no insurance or drives off. If the other car never touched yours, Utah Code § 31A-22-305(6) requires clear and convincing proof of that vehicle beyond your own testimony. Read what to do after a hit-and-run.

After a Crash in Lindon

  • Call 911. Lindon officers usually respond inside the city and a trooper on I-15; either way, write down the case number and the name of the agency.
  • Get examined the same day. Timpanogos Regional Hospital in Orem and American Fork Hospital are both Level III trauma centers, and the gravest injuries go on to Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, a Level II center.
  • Photograph the vehicles before they are moved, the lane you occupied, the signal or stop sign, and any business cameras aimed at the road.
  • Get names and numbers from witnesses, including employees of nearby businesses who saw the impact.
  • Open a PIP claim with your own insurer, and hold off on any recorded statement to the other company. Here is how attorneys deal with auto insurers.

Injury suits from Lindon crashes are filed in the Fourth Judicial District Court for Utah County, 137 North Freedom Boulevard, Provo. Most resolve without a trial, but our legal team prepares each one as though a jury will decide it. Crash just over the line? See our Pleasant Grove car accident page, or call (801) 921-5134.
