Utah DOT Crash Data

Herriman's Most Dangerous Roads

Mountain View Corridor (SR-85) carries 16.8% of the crashes on Herriman's roads but 26 of the 56 that left someone dead or seriously injured from January 2018 through August 4, 2025. In 13 of those 26, the officer flagged a driver who disregarded a signal or sign.

Herriman's crash records from UDOT, January 1, 2018 to August 4, 2025, are sorted here by the road each crash happened on. The road named in the officer's report decided close calls, and the nearest mapped road decided the rest. Crashes in private lots and the handful that matched no road are not ranked. A crash counts as serious or fatal if the report recorded a death or a suspected serious injury.

UDOT recorded 3,030 crashes inside Herriman, none of them on a freeway or ramp. 133 were in private lots and 13 could not be matched, so 2,884 are ranked here. 56 were serious or fatal (1.9%, against 2.6% on non-freeway roads across the seven counties in this data), and 10 people died in 8 fatal crashes.

Mountain View Corridor Holds Nearly Half the Serious Crashes

Mountain View Corridor had 484 crashes in Herriman, the most of any road, and 26 of them were serious or fatal (5.4%); 4 people died. That is 46.4% of the city's serious or fatal crashes. The second-busiest road, Rosecrest Road, had 398 crashes and 4 serious or fatal ones.

The serious crashes on Mountain View Corridor cluster at its junctions. Real Vista Drive accounts for 41 of its crashes and 7 of the serious or fatal ones, 11800 South for 100 and 4, and Rosecrest Road for 59 and 4. UGRC lists speed limits of 40 to 55 mph on its Herriman segments.

The Ten Herriman Roads With the Most Crashes

A Short Highway With Three Fatal Crashes

Sorted by serious or fatal crashes, Mountain View Corridor (26) is far ahead of Rosecrest Road (4). Tied with Rosecrest at 4 is a road that does not make the crash-count list: Herriman Highway (13100 South) had only 42 crashes, yet 3 of them were fatal. 11800 South follows with 3.

Side Impacts, Snow and December

Angle (side-impact) crashes are 33.6% of Herriman's crashes but 34 of the 56 serious or fatal ones (60.7%), the highest such share among the 57 Utah cities with enough data for a page like this; across the seven counties it is 35.2%. Officers flagged a disregarded signal or sign in 15 serious or fatal crashes (26.8%, against 12.3%) and speed in 13.0% of all crashes, the third-highest rate of the 57.

Winter shows up clearly. 8.3% of crashes happened on snow, ice or slush, also third-highest of the 57 (5.9% regionally), and December was the busiest month over 2018 through 2024 with 288 crashes. A teen driver was involved in 36.8% of crashes (23.8% regionally), while older drivers appeared in only 7.4%.

No Freeway Crashes at All

Not one crash in Herriman's records was on a freeway lane or ramp, so every figure on this page comes from city roads and state highways. Two limits apply: crashes that caused only property damage below Utah's reporting threshold are not in the records, and a crash where two ranked roads meet is counted on just one of them.

Your Options After a Herriman Crash

Your own personal injury protection pays first, covering at least $3,000 in medical expenses whoever caused the crash (Utah Code § 31A-22-307). To go after the other driver for pain and other general damages, the injury has to meet the threshold in § 31A-22-309, such as a fracture, permanent impairment or medical bills over $3,000. If the driver who ran the light or sign is never identified, Utah treats the vehicle as uninsured (§ 31A-22-305(2)(b)). Your share of fault reduces your recovery, and you recover nothing unless the others' combined fault is greater than yours (§ 78B-5-818). Most injury lawsuits must be filed within four years (§ 78B-2-307); a claim against UDOT or the city over the design or upkeep of a road needs a written notice of claim within one year (§ 63G-7-402). More on our Herriman car accident and Herriman personal injury pages, on Herriman's most dangerous intersections for people on foot and on bikes, and in our posts on red-light and intersection fault and winter crash claims. Our guides cover how fault is proven, PIP claims and the deadline to sue.

What Recovery Can Include

  • Medical and income: emergency care, specialists, imaging, therapy, the paychecks you miss and any lasting loss of earning ability.
  • Human costs: pain, disrupted sleep and the activities and family time the injury takes from you.
  • Later needs: future treatment, plus repair or replacement of your vehicle.
